Missing Resit and Deferred Marks?! Here’s What You Need to Know

When using the MMS (Module Management System) tools for Resit and Deferred students, you might notice that some students seem to have disappeared from your lists after results are reported. This issue often leads to confusion, but the solution is simpler than you might think.

Why Is This Happening?

The Resit and Deferred tools in MMS typically include a filter designed to show only Resit or Deferred students for a specific module. This filter prompts MMS to ask SITS, the central student database, “Which students on this module are Resit or Deferred?” This process works perfectly during the exam period, ensuring that only the relevant students are visible.

However, after results are reported, SITS no longer recognizes these students as Resit or Deferred. As a result, if you still have the filter on when viewing the tool in MMS, those students won’t be displayed—even though their data is still stored in the system.

The Simple Fix: Removing the Filter

To ensure that all students are displayed, including those who were Resit or Deferred, you need to remove the filter. Here’s how:

  1. Log into MMS: Start by logging into your MMS account.
  2. Locate the Module: Navigate to the module in question and select the module title to access the module overview.
  3. Scroll to the Tools Section: Scroll down to the ‘Tools’ section on the module overview page.
  4. Locate the Tool: In the tools table, find the Resit or Deferred tool you’re working with.
  5. Remove the Filter: In the ‘Assessment’ column, select ‘Primary’ from the drop-down list.
  6. Update the Tool: Finally, click the green ‘Update Tools’ button.

By removing the filter, all students—whether Resit, Deferred, or otherwise—will be displayed in the tool, and any data previously entered will also be visible.

This simple adjustment ensures that you have a complete view of your students’ data after results are reported, avoiding any confusion about missing marks.
