MMS help
The Module Management System (MMS) is an online tool which assists in the managing and administrating of modules. Its use ensures compliance with various Institutional and Governmental regulations. It is used throughout the University of St Andrews by many different types of users.
Where possible MMS matches the University structure. It is broken up into Schools and units, with each school containing modules. Modules can have groups, tools, staff and students.
There are three types of modules in MMS:
- The vast majority are the ‘standard’ type which correspond directly to taught modules.
- Postgraduate Research modules are used for administrating all research students in a school.
- ‘Pseudo’ or ‘meta’ modules do not import student lists directly from Registry. They can be used either as ‘staff only’ modules or to import students from other modules already setup in MMS.
MMS modules and tools can be used in a range of ways depending on configuration and the roles that a user may have. The MMS guides are tailored to specific user roles to ensure they are as useful as possible.
