Introducing the Secondary Supervisor (PGR) Role in Moodle

We’re excited to announce we are introducing the Secondary Supervisor (PGR) role into Moodle, seamlessly bridging the gap between administrative systems and the virtual learning environment.

The Secondary Supervisor (PGR) role is a standard global role specifically designed to support staff members who serve as secondary supervisors for PGR students. With this integration, staff members fulfilling this role will now find their responsibilities seamlessly translated into Moodle, under the familiar guise of the ‘Tutor’ role. This means that the support and guidance provided by secondary supervisors will be directly accessible within the Moodle platform, ensuring a smoother and more integrated experience for both supervisors and students alike.

By automating the assignment of the Secondary Supervisor (PGR) role to relevant staff members and aligning it with the ‘Tutor’ role in Moodle, we aim to enhance communication, collaboration, and academic guidance throughout the PGR journey. We believe that this integration will not only streamline administrative processes but also foster a more enriching and supportive learning environment for our postgraduate researchers.
